Workshops & Lectures

Paula Barnes is a noted quilt designer and teacher. For over years she has taught in the Dallas and Houston areas for quilt shops, and many guilds throughout the state of Texas and the United States.

At Red Crinoline Quilts we love vintage and reproduction quilts. Paula has the unique talent and ability to design beautiful reproduction quilts utilizing the up-to-date techniques of today, including rotary cutting and other tools currently available. She conducts workshops and lectures including "Designing a Quilting Studio", "History of the Quilts from Red Crinoline Quilts " and "Exchange Quilts".

Paula has served as a Board Member of the West Houston Quilt Guild and is a member of the Katy Rotary Club Bee (Katy, Texas), 19th Century Patchwork Divas (Arlington, Texas), and Sunday Gourmet Quilters (Katy, Texas). Now she is the exclusive designer for and co-owner of Red Crinoline Quilts.  You will not want to miss these great lectures and workshops.

Lecture Information

Designing a Quilting Studio: Turn your sewing area into a quilting studio with all the tips you will learn from this lecture. This lecture includes everything a novice or experienced quilter needs to know to organize their quilting studio. Making use of everyday items can help a quilter organize their tools and supplies. Have you ever bought an additional seam ripper, scissors or ruler because you could not find yours? This lecture will help you get organized and make it easy to find all your supplies. 

The History of the Quilts from Red Crinoline Quilts:  This trunk show includes the Civil War history behind each of the exclusive quilts designed by Paula Barnes for Red Crinoline Quilts.  Each of our quilts has a very interesting story which could possibly bring outburst of laughter or tears.  They are sure to warm your heart.

Exchange Quilts: Have you ever participated in an exchange? Maybe you would like to organize your own exchange. Over the last 15 years, Paula has participated in and organized many exchanges including roosting robin and mystery exchanges. In this lecture, Paula will provide you with many ideas on how to use those exchange blocks along with a wonderful show-and-tell highlighting some of the great exchange quilts she has done over many years.

A complete supply list and pre-cutting instructions will be provided when a workshop is scheduled. 
 

A kit is available for each workshop for an additional fee per student.  Three weeks notice is required to request kits for a workshop.  It is not required that each student purchase a kit for a workshop.
